Speed tests

Can people on the 1meg package post their speed test results from both the Plusnet speed test and from dslreports.com ?

My results are....

Plusnet - 970.30kbps
dslreports - 782kbps

This difference always remains and would just like to see if it is a problem with my connection only.

Thanks in advance.

The dslreport.com speed tests are rubbish. They are based in the US, and as such, subject to all the routing latency that US transit has to offer.

See the Speed tester reliability FAQ for details my speed testers are usless in genral anyhow.

Speed tests

The best way to test your speed is to time the download of a large file and see what average speed you can achieve. Or use the download pop-up's that can show your average transfer speed.

The speed testers can only be used as a guide and the further away they are the slower they will normally report your actual speed to them.

If you want a UK based test thats more reliable i'd use ADSLGuide's Speedtest

Hope that helps Smiley
