Speed probs on recent 1mb regrade

This seems to be an intermittent problem. First I put it down to needing a little tweaking, but now after getting the right settings and constantly pulling 115KB/s+, I am now getting speeds similar to my old 512k service.

Could this be a overloaded exchange issue, as when this happens it seems to be in the evening (although don't really know during the day), but the results from the speed checker do seem to vary a great deal.

Here is the pasting from the speed test to show:-

17-09-2004 19:29:56 736.4
15-09-2004 08:11:43 983.4
14-09-2004 21:49:08 457.2
14-09-2004 21:45:23 417.2
14-09-2004 20:23:36 558.2
14-09-2004 20:22:12 600.3
14-09-2004 08:03:58 974.7
14-09-2004 19:55:41 857.5
14-09-2004 18:36:54 966
13-09-2004 22:11:55 337.1
13-09-2004 18:14:41 971
13-09-2004 18:13:34 970.5

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I'm more and more thinking this is an overloading issue, cos my speed has now returned to the usual 115KB/s +

Comments still welcome

There are currently 13 pipes enabled at PlusNet. These comprise of 10 on the redbacks (5 per redback), 2 segments on one Juniper and 1 on another.

Each pipe is split into 2 PVC's, totaling 26 PVCs.

Because of an issue with the way BT load balance the pipes, 1 in every 26 connection attempts is likely subject to speed and/or packet loss.

This may be the cause of your issues.

BT know what is causing the issues, but a solution is not a quick and easy task. It relates to the way PlusNet mix 622 and 155 pipes. If they where to use only 622, or only 155 pipes, then the issues would not be seen.

PlusNet have assued us that BT are looking into way to rectify this, and have made sugestions that uses attempt to reconnect a ew times to see fi there problems are resolved that way.

:? :? :? don't sound quick or easy either.

Will give the reconnecting tip a go and see what that does.

And presumably this problem is only cos I have gone to 1mb or would I have seen this staying at 512k Huh (just curious).
