Severe landline static and connection.

Hi, question from a relative layman.
Since getting the ADSL 500 set I cant use the landline telephone while the pc is on. It dosnt even have to be connected to the net, it just causes severe static on the line so that using the phone is impossible. If I'm on the net and the phone rings, I lose my connection and I cannot re-connect until I have wiped my voice mail and re-booted my pc. A simple click on connect wont do it.

It seems that the static on the phoneline is only audible at my end. The caller wont hear it.

Any ideas? Much appreciated. :?

Fault filter is usually is the cause, I had that with mine. I had bought two of the origional solwise splitters and kept a spare, lucky as the main one died on me about 4 months ago. It did almost exactly the same thing.

Also see THIS tutorial, to insure that your filters are setup correctly.

Sounds, excuse the pun, like a faulty DSL filter or you have a modem/phone/answering machine/sky box connected to the phone line somewhere without a filter.

Cheers for the help, looks like that was exactly the problem.
