As you can see there is clearly an issue with PN's DNS servers - which has been denied and ignored whenever I brought it to their attention whilst using the voyager 105 - Now I have a router saying the same thing please LISTEN TO ME PN!!!!!

PLEASE SORT OUT YOUR DNS ISSUE.

I also have a 2nd issue:
I have 3 PC's on my network.
My main one is crawlingly slow online at the moment for no apparent reason - it's taking in excess of 30 seconds to load each page. Yet on my other PC's (via remote desktop) there isn't a problem - http works instantly.

Also get this, it seems to be a http related issue. It takes an age to access the router's config pages from my main PC yet on the others it's instant - just like with WWW http servers. Any other TCP traffic is fine - IE Remote Desktop is unaffected.

Any ideas?

There are clearly 2 different issues here. 1 being PN's DNS servers which are messing my router about, and the 2nd being my main pc struggling with http traffic - I should also mention it's the same PC which picked up a trojan yesterday thanks to some dodgy popup advert...

All help appreciated guys as this one really does have me stumped - Even my VMware virtual XP-Pro systems can access the web from my main PC!!!
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I have posted these before but may be useful to do it again. its a list of all uks dns. with this you can add others so if your find problems with dns you can add some other ones to offset any problems.

There has been some reports of massive DOS attacks against some DNS servers I dont know if this is having an effect

AOL

DNS Server:-

You also require your BT Broadband username. This is made up of your.name@btbroadband.com where "your" equals your first name and "name" equals your surname, e.g. joe.bloggs@btbroadband.com. BT Broadband does not require that you enter a password to connect but some routers won't connect to the Internet without a password, in which case enter the word BT.

Serious Connection issue - PN's DNS again??

Have you tried manually entering and switching between the three PlusNet DNS servers to see if it's a problem with one of them

DNS - primary 212.159.13.49

DNS - secondary 212.159.13.50

DNS - tertiary 212.159.6.10

(212.159.6.9 isn't listed on the support pages anymore, but as far as I know it still works)

If that still doesn't work try the DNS servers at OpenDNS and see if that makes a difference.

I have taken to mixing PlusNet and Open DNS servers, with PlusNet as primary.

It's still picked up automatically by my router.

Serious Connection issue - PN's DNS again??

my router picks up (by default):

PPP1: DNS Secondary IP address is 212.159.6.10
PPP1: DNS Primary IP address is 212.159.6.9

although i have a 'static' ip, it's still assigned by dhcp as i enter no configuration information into my router - should i force my router to use the primary / secondary (212.159.13.49 and 212.159.13.50) addresses posted above?
