Send other ISP mail whilst connected to Plus ADSL

Hi - I've got an Easyspace account, and would like to be able to send mail from that account whilst on the Plus ADSL line.

Easyspace give you the address of their SMTP server to use, but it seems I can only receive, not send.

Any ideas why? Could I substitute the name of the Plus SMTP server for send??

Thanks

Most ISP block SMTP requires from other networks to prevent spam.

Use the plus.net smtp server.
If my memory is correct its called; relay.plus.net

You cant. There server does not allow relaying. That is, you cant pass an email to another mail server (Easynet) for sending. What you can do is create your Easynet account as a second acount in OUtlook or whatever you are using and then you can choose which account to send through. That is what I have done.

I send e-mail through BT, and many other providers.

I switch on SMTP Authorisation on Outlook which means that you're not sending through Plus.Net's own mail servers, it's Easyspace, but it has authorisation for this.

You can find more on Outlook Express error numbers http://portal.plus.net/support/email/oe_error_guide.shtml

Thanks I'll check this out and report back. Easyspace aren't the most helpful of people, and I'd junk the service except for legacy problems.

Hi

I use a pop3 / smtp account with lycos and 1and1 , and it works fine through Plus.net. I don't have the plus net mail configured,, but it is configured to authenticate to the smtp server of the mail account
