Cry Can anyone help me with setting up W32Time. The question that I need an answer to is: Do I have to configure my firewall on the router to allow port 123 outboud traffic, inbound traffic or both?

Any suggestions greatfully received.

Cheers Patrick

You need to open UDP port 123 outbound.

I am just running NAT with no separate firewall enabled - in that case no adjustments were needed to allow the outbound traffic and w32time works fine.

There was a recent thread elsewhere where someone was have trouble running the Windows Time service on XP - I don't know if it is relevant to your case.

Thanks for your help. The Solwis Sar 110 has a sntp client, that you have to telnet commands to configure and it will keep its home page clock accurate. But to get sntp W32Time to work I created a Nat rule entry:
Rule ID: 20
If Name: All
Rule Flavour: RDR
Protocol: UDP
Local Address From: Address of LAN W32Time Server
Local Address To: As above
Global Address From: 0.0.0.0 (from anywhere)
Global Address To: As above
Destination Port From: 123
Destination Port To: 123
Local Port: 123
submit
commit
reboot

This works and I hope it may be of some use, but I sure it could be refined!

Thanks again for your help
