SAR router

Had no problems whatsoever with mine.

Can you be more descriptive as to how it 'did not work' - perhaps it is a simple misconfiguration that can easily be solved?

SAR router

I`ll try and remember!!
was over the phone to him!

set up as per plus net instructions
pc ip address 192.168.7.2
subnet 255.255.255.0
preferred dns server 212.159.11.150
alternate dns server 212.159.13.150
default gateway 92.168.7.1

this was all for his network card

for the router

enter the router throu the ip address enter passwords etc

put inthese settings
encapsulation pppoa vc-mux
vpi-0
vci-38
bridge-disabled
igmp-disabled
use dns-no

click the submit button and away it should go
but
when you do this it resets all the settings back to default and does not do
anything!!
oh and bye the way he entered his user name and password

the adsl light is on but i think he said it was blinking

what got me thinking thou was his ip address when he checks his account
settings it is 212.159.**.***
mine is a lot lower than that 81.174.***.**

hope this might help

Hmm, not knowing this router, not having it I'm afraid I can't offer much advice, but one thing I can say is that plusnet use many different ranges, mine is 212.159.*.* but I know others on many many different ones.

Only advice I can give, check the router manual. The light on my dlink dsl-504 blinks, which I thought was a problem, but in fact that just means everything is working as it should :?

The discrepincy in IP addresses may be the accounts you are on.

My guess is one is ADSL Home or easystart, and the other is Homesurf.

My first comment is that the default gateway on the network card is misconfigured. The default gateway should be 192.168.7.1 (the ADSL router).

With the default gateway set to the value in your post, then no internet traffic will be routed to the internet.

Secondly. You say that he clicked 'submit' and nothing changed. Did he then go and perform a commit and reboot? This is imperative otherwise the new settings will not be actioned.
