i Have the Xmodem CE adsl ethernet modem and a Linksys wrt54g router. has never let me down yet. Before this i tried various modems / router but this has been the best and never failed once ( keeping finger crossed after saying this) Currently you can get this deal from ADSL NATION

Hi can someone please recommend the best router to use for the plusnet service?

I am a 2mb user and recently have had speed/network issues which seem to be related to my hardware (Belkin 7630). It is frustrating me that I need to keep rebooting the kit, reflashing firmware etc to improve speeds. There must be less flakey kit!

Thoughts much appreciated.

Are there any decent routers with built-in modems?

Netgear DG834 is very good and easy to setup.

Also checkout the hardware reviews on ADSLguide here.

Once you have chosen a router have alook on the forums @

see what questions other users are asking and what problems they are having.

I'm looking at getting myself a Netgear DG834G shortly. It seems like a very popular piece of kit, and although a BT ADSL engineer seems to have some sort of objection to them over on ADSLGuide Smiley, I'm tempted.

Secure ADSL Router (CISCO837-K9) £329.00

I use a Linksys BEFDSR41W and find it quite functional as a ADSL Modem and 4 port switch (has NAT etc too Smiley )

More details can be found here at linksys's site

I use the Netgear DG834

I would recommend it to anyone, plug it in, turn on the power, enter your username and away you go. It is also upgradable (via free firmware update from Netgear) to ADSL 2+ when available.

Never had a problem yet!

NAT and SPI Firewall and easy opening of ports in firewall.
I'm sure the DG834G is very similar

***IMPORTANT***
If you buy this, the latest firmware is a 'must-have'. The firmware that comes with it has many many bugs and problems.

Cisco 837 for me. I wouldn't buy retail, way to exp. I got mine off ebay for 160. That was 2 years ago now when I migrated off ISDN. I now have an 803 looking for a new home, anyone? Smiley
