Rocket scientist

So how come I can only access the Plusnet website. I have altered my MTU settings in the past but to no avail, cannot get to any other web sites. I can get my email. It is very intermittent connections as it was all right after 8.00 PM last night.

I don’t need to be a rocket scientist to able to use my ADSL connection with Plusnet; all I need is something nice and simple such as dial up! But I am paying for the convenience off ADSL but not getting the service. It is a waste of time reporting a problem as eventually, back comes some lame excuse from an overworked Plusnet staff member.

If I wasn’t leaving the country early in the new year I would have left Plusnet by now and found a more reliable ISP

RE: Rocket scientist

You dont give any details of O/S equipment or what the problem is so there is little we can do to help. Everyone is changing there MTU as a magic cure but get this bit wrong and it will stop you connecting. test your MTU http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
get BT MTU setting prog here.
http://speedtest.btopenworld.com/mtu/

Tweaking may fix
Slow download speeds
Download slower than upload speed
Skipping in TCP streaming video/audio
Blank web pages
Connection issues to some sites

Tweaking will not fix
Packet loss
Multiplayer games over UDP
Your ping time
Regular PC freezes
Inherited hair loss

RE: Rocket scientist

Are you sure you've configured everything right? Have you got your DNS settings configured correctly?

Try visiting http://www.google.com then try visiting http://216.239.39.100/ if the second one works and the first doesn't then it's a problem with your DNS settings.

I stumbled across Web weirdness in PC advisor Feb 2003. Had to go to Internet Explorer and select Java logging enabled. And hey presto I'm back to full speed
