Hi,

BT will use RADSL if neccessary when we provision a line through them if your line is too long to support standard ADSL.

Hi,

A correction along with a quick clarification.
BT always use the product called RADSL for its 50:1 512k connections anyway.
As rate adaptive products affect the upload speed only, the best way to test this is to do a few uploads - normally you should get around 25-30KB/s if rate adaptive is not being used.

Richard

You place and order with plusnet then the test gets done within a few days (by BT). You get a nice tracker screen to tell you whats going on.

RE: RDSL or not??/Woosh test

So with RDSL is the connection time slower, is this what happens when some modems are 'training'.

Is there any way to fix the speed?

Should not be slower............
if you are more than 3.5km from your exchange then it seems that BT use RADSL.............

RE: RDSL or not??/Woosh test

If you go to the Bt web site and use their facility for checking whether your telephone line is capable of giving you ADSL (notwithstanding the fact that you already have it) the result will indicate whether your line is capable of a 512K, 1M or 2M connection.

RE: RDSL or not??/Woosh test

Speed tests do not give correct results on a line which already has ADSL activated. If you upgrade BT will disconnect the current service and run a proper test.

Phoning BT and asking them for info with regards to your previous ADSL tests will not work. BT Wholesale are responsible for setting up ADSL not the people who run your phone service (BT Retail).
