Proxy Server's

Hello,

Any chance plusnet can set up a proxy server or do plusnet have some set up already? If you don't want to go the dynamic way, then what would be the harm in setting up a proxy server for people that want to have a different IP each time they connect?

Am sure am going to be explained why the proxy servers are bad or won't happen.

The idea was raised here (concerning SOCKS proxy servers - these may not be the same thing, I'm not sure). Unfortunatley, as was said in that thread, the demand isn't really there to make this idea commercially viable.

I'm not really up on my proxy terms, so I may be completely wrong here Wink

A socks server is a specific proxy product. Version 4 is basic where version 5 will allow you to provide NAT style port forwarding too.

The term proxy is a method of relaying a connection between system A to system B, yet, it specificaly travels through Systsm Z. Simalar to a gateway in TCP/IP, however, sits on the application layer instead.

Well its got to be one or the other dynamic or proxy?

I don't want to come across to be demanding but why i ask is if plusnet did them, then i would know that they would work. Smiley
