Post a speed test here (adslguide.co.uk)

Hi if you can do a speed test on adslguide.co.uk and post results here.

My downstream is only half of what it was.. but the upstream has gotten faster.
glad about the upstream, but sad about the down.

I have tried http://monitor.plus.net (Big Brother)

PlusNET Technologies Bandwidth Meter
Your current bandwidth reading is:
360.80kbps
which means you can download at 45.1 KB/sec. from our servers.

Looks a bit faster on there, but isn't that because i'm testing on my own ISP's servers?!.

The rest of the internet is slower.

RE: Post a speed test here (adslguide.co.uk)

Well here is what i have found:
PlusNet DNS Servers:

212.159.11.150
212.159.13.150

Are slower than
BT DNS Servers:

213.120.62.100
213.120.62.101

at this present time.

Here is another speed test using BT servers:

Broadband Speed Test Results

Downstream 369 Kbps (46.1 KB/sec) 424 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 243 Kbps (30.4 KB/sec) 279 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Much faster.
and on PlusNet Meter:

PlusNET Technologies Bandwidth Meter

Your current bandwidth reading is:

394.80kbps

which means you can download at 49.35 KB/sec. from our servers.

Reads faster too.
change the DNS servers until PlusNet get sorted.
seems to work better.

RE: Post a speed test here (adslguide.co.uk)

Direction Actual Speed True Speed
Downstream 428 Kbps (53.5 KB/sec) 492 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 239 Kbps (29.9 KB/sec) 274 Kbps (inc. overheads)

This is the best speed all night, makes all that money worth it. At one stage my 56k modem would have been quicker !!!

RE: Post a speed test here (adslguide.co.uk)

OK everyone thanks!
I had to use BT DNS servers to get a decent download earlier.

But back on PlusNet now..
and everything is fast again.
Must have been one of the bad days!

Much improved after last night when I was gertting 4k upload speeds to anything outside the +net network.

Lets see what happens when peak time hits again though..

> when you say 405 kbps = 50.6 kb/s , what is the maths. is one bits and one bytes. and whats the point of quoting both figures?

sorry, but its all new to me and i like to understand everything.
