Port Opening...

Hi there,
I'm using the Voyager 205 Router and need to open port 2593... I've tried a number of things but have come up with nothing.

Any chance anyone knows how I can do this?

I need to open the port as it's used by a server I run from my computer (which requires data to be sent to other people, and other people to send data to the server).

If you post what you enetered, we may be able to spot the error.

I take it you need people from the outside to connect to your server and send info in/out - i.e. you don't expect your server to connect to them first?

Are you sure your server is listening on the port you have specified?

100% sure that the server is listening to port 2593

I'm entering:

Rule Flavor: Virtual Server
Rule ID: 1
Protocol: Any
LAN IP Address: *My computers IP*
Destination Port: 2593
Local Port: 2593

Just noticed I need to have a static IP set... but if i follow the guidlines on http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm then the static IP is hardly going to be unique, so wouldnt that pose a problem for people connecting to me?

no cos they use the IP given to you by plusnet (your external one) to connect, the 192.168.x.x and the 10.x ip ranges are non routeable and as such are only for within your own lan
