Plusdsl.net users still slow?? THIS SHOULD FIX IT! IT DID FO

HOORAY!
I put a topic up earlier "Still Slow!??" in regards to my connection being as slow as 56k! About 4kb/s and I checked the customer support section and they recommend playing with the MTU settings more, so I opened up Dr TCP and changed all MTU Values FROM my previously 'tweaked' value of 1458 to NOTHING (just left the fields blank) clicked saved, rebooted and I am getting TOP SPEEDS again! :cheese:

I don't know if this will work for everyone else but i recommend you try it!!!!!

My speed results!...

Hoorah! Now i wonder how long Plusnet can keep it like this!?!? Roll eyes ;-)

Well lets see what your MTU is then. Go to www.dslreports.com/tweaks and run the test. Post the test URL and then we can see what your MTU values are.

I'm betting that it's still 1458.

Recon yr right.

The chances are he never changed the MTU in the first place. As we now know that BT recommends 1458, if his MTU is at the windows default he'll be back on moaning how bad plusnet is during peak times.

My connection is very slow just as he described. It may seem like a stupid question but does the MTU have to be set in a router if you use one? If so how?

I changed mine from defaults to MTU 1458 and RWIN 14180 using Drtcp...I`ve been geeting figures like this for the evening
time/speed
1845/427.3
2015/453.
2045/93.?
2137/452.
2300/426.90

also had 484.20 during the Day

considering I was getting 29.o last night...you decide?
