I'm getting alot of ping spikes up to ~300ms every 20-30 seconds while online gaming, has anyone else these issue atm?
Is there a particular Plusnet server playing up at the moment because my brother (on same exchange and on Plusnet Premier) is fine.

If so how do i find out what Plusnet server i'm using?
btw I'm on Premier 2mb.

TIA

Ping spikes

WinMTR will show where the spikes are and if it's within PlusNets network or outside. Run it for at least 5 mins then post the results.

What is the IP/name of the server you are connected to so I can do a test as well.

Thanks Peter.

213.208.119.230:27015 is the Counterstrike server i'm trying to play on.

I'll post back with my results.

Seems to me its a Plusnet issue as lo0-plusnet.pte-ag2.plus.net has a high of 1031 (i noticed a 188 on before i went out the room!)?
I presume thats the Plusnet server i'm connected to? Any chance of me connecting to a different Plusnet server if thats the case?

I'll get my brother to run it as well.

not sure if it's still the case but if you disconnect, leave it for a few minutes and reconnect you should find yourself on a different gateway than pte-ag2 (this may take a few reconnects to do but it should work)

Ping spikes

It is difficult to tell where the problem may lie because between the first and 2nd hop you also have the BT network (between you r router and PlusNet) so It may actually be within BT's network where the spikes are occuring.

Not sure what to suggest as this kind of problem is difficult to diagnose.

I have just run a test to the same IP and had a worse ping of 375ms on pte-ag2.

To pick up a different connection, just discopnnect your router from the BT line, wait a few minutes then reconnect. Although the problem does appear of several PN gateways.

Hmm not 100% perfect but alot better.
I've rerun WinMTR again for longer and its spiked at 547 on lo0-plusnet.ptn-ag1.plus.net
Would this indicate a problem at Plusnet's end? :?

Ping spikes

Looking at your "average" pings (15-20), I can't see the odd peak being a big problem tbh. I mean the spikes must be pretty rare for you to have such a low average ping.

You think those winmtr results are bad then see these with over 10% packet loss

A few hours later again it sort itsself out. Strange every night pings are high, then gets to a certain time and all goes normal again. FYI i did reconnect and try the new gateway to no avail. Just a certain time and everything works proper again on the ping side.
