P2P/gaming problems with max dsl

I've recently been upgraded to Max and must say that it itsn't all its cracked up to be. I've been having problems with my Zoom modem continually dropping the connection. During the trial it seemed to be perfect at 2900kbps down and 484kbps up. But unfortunately the connection seems to have stuck on 5000 odd kbps down, which is proving very eratic..

Also, since the Max dsl trial has ended my p2p client has been unable to download more than 4mb in 3 days and gaming on the connection is a complete nightmare.

Contacted plus support and they were unable to find any problems with the connection. I'm thinking it might have been best to stay on the more stable 2mb connection.

Has anybody else experienced similar problems?

probs a virus from your P2P usage -dont use it, simple. Gameing? move to an ISP that cares lol, not one that gives just enough bw to download your email - if the server is working (lol).

on a more helpfull note, what do your speedtests / tracerouts show to the p2p site//game servers

No virus here - I regularly use spybot, adaware and symantec corporate edition. Plus there is another machine on the network that experiences exactly the same issues with p2p and gaming.

I forgot to say that the problem doesn't just lie with these, but they are the most affects. MIRC regularly pings out and I often find myself having to refresh webpages that don't completely render in firefox.

Speed tests fluctuate between 800kbps and 3000kbps on various websites.

I just tried a traceroute and here are the results:

Seems alright to me. I considered moving providers, but plus net charge £47 for the priviledge. Seems like extortion to me.

I had to get rid of my Zoom modem because I had exactly the same problem as you. In Battlefield 2 I would only stay in a game for a few mins before being disconnected.

I got a Netgear router and haven't had any problems since.

Try to expande your mind slightly and get rid of your narrow and selfish point of view. I suppose you think its all the P2P users out there that are taking your bandbidth away Evil Not all P2P is full of viruses a Personal attack removed.

Geepak: I advise (if you can) to set your P2P APP to start after midnight and disable before 4.00pm. This will help with your monthly allowance and help stop nobbers who dont use P2P so think therefore we shouldnt to SHUT UP!

I have been getting pings of 30-200ms Gaming but I only Play Delta Forces Black Hawk Down online. (just got the PS2 setup with a network card and will see how that goes)

Personal attacks are not welcome and will not be permitted on the boards.

If a poster feels aggreived or the subject of a personal attack report it to a moderator or a member of staff. Do not get involved in slanging matches or personal attacks.

I would strongly advise posters to read the forum rules beofre posting.
