Non BT phone service

If we were to change from payiong BT for our phones, and went to, say, Tesco, would this effect our Broadband at all?

Cheers

Depends on what you mean by 'go to tesco'.

Is this using carrier preselection or moving your line rental to them?

You really need to talk to Tesco to see what they say regarding an existing ADSL connection on the line as some telephone companies have no problem and others do.

not sure of the terms you use but;

BT provides your telephone line and BT operates your telephone exchange. Because of this, there may be times when BT makes your telephone line unavailable. Unfortunately, this is beyond our control and there is nothing we can do to prevent this.

From the Tesco site.

Does that help clear it up?

cool - plus I just looked at the TalkTalk site (another we are considering) and they clearly say Broadband is not an issue, even if you take rental from them as well.
