New house bad line speed

Hi All,

I've just moved my Plusnet account from my old address. I have a 2MB ADSL account but at my new address, am struggling to get up to 1MB. It's a new build house and I am wondering if I should speak to BT or Plusnet support about the line speed. Should I be able to get up to 2MB speeds? Can someone help me with this? I've tried various MTU tweaks but with very little success. The stats from my Belkin router are as follows:

Upstream Fast Channel Data Rate - 288 Kbps
Downstream Fast Channel Data Rate - 1152kbps

Upstream Noise Margin - 25dB
Downstream Noise Margin - 11.5dB

Upstream Output Power - 11dBm
Downstream Output Power - 17dBm

Upstream Attenuation - 31.5dB
Downstream Attenuation - 49dB

Received Superframes Interleaved - 0
Transmitted Superframes Interleaved - 0
Received Superframes Fast - 160348
Transmitted Superframes Fast - 29940

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Unfortunately your downstream loss at 49dB is outside the limits for 2meg and 1 meg is about the best your going to get until "MaxADSL" comes along.

Limit is 43dB for 2 meg at the moment and is pretty strickly enforced by BT.

True, even more so considering the downstream SNR is already at 11.5dB and anything below 10dB can result in problematic connections.

Yes I would guess that 1.5 meg will be the most that can be used and still be stable. Sad

Ah well. It's a pity the missus loves this new house - I doubt if the slow line speed would convince her to move!

Thanks for the replies guys.
