NT4 SBS Server and internet access using adsl

Hi All,

I managed to install the adsl working from my network.. all my client pcs (win 98, and xp) work fine.. however when i set the server up to ping from dos say bbc.co.uk, i get "bad ip address". and thus get no internet access to send & receive mail. We used to be able to connect to the internet via the modem, so have now changed setttings of Internet explorer to not dial connections and use the lan.. with the gateway ip address of 192.168.1.1

any ideas why this doesn't work ?

thanks a million

The only thing I can sugest causes this is DNS.

Are you sure you have populated the DNS settings?

With dialup you get dns set for you so its likely you have no dns. If you can ping say 194.119.131.66 and its ok but you cant ping by name then its your dns settings.

If you are running a server make sure its fully patched

Install the MS Proxy client that should sort it out, also aren't you using exchange if you have SBS?

You could use a pop connector on exchange to download pop mail and dumpt it into exchange accounts.
