Assuming you have adsl it is normally a drivers issue. The drivers cant see the modems settings to detect the adsl.

Have you made the fatal mistake of pluging in the modem before installing the drivers as this is the normal cause. Remove the software reboot. install the software and dont connect the modem until it says to do so

I have done exactly what you told me.

Remove Modem Driver.
Re-install Driver Software.
Plug in USB socket of ASDL Modem when ask
Software detect a new hardware install, installation complete.
The DSL Signal is still off.
The Power light is on.

Can you help.

If there is no DSL signal, it implies that you are not managing to sync with the exchange.

Have you ever been able to connect via Plusnet broadband?

Has anything changed since you last connected?

Have you tried all this (from ADSL Guide):

QUOTE:

My ADSL hardware is not synchronising?

The first stage of installing ADSL is getting the ADSL modem to sync to the local exchange, until this happens you can't login.

There are several things to try:

1. Check all the leads are in the correct places
2. Remove all the phones and other telephone equipment from the line and check again.
3. Remove any micro-filters.
4. Try the modem at the master socket, you can also unscrew this faceplate and use the internal phone socket which should bypass any alarm/extensions you have.
5. Check the ADSL mode the modem is using, try in the following order Auto, DMT, ANSI
6. If possible try the modem on an ADSL line that is known to work, or borrow a known working modem.

At end of the day if you have proven the hardware to work elsewhere and ruled out your wiring, it's probably best to report the problem to your ISP or assume your line hasn't been activated yet.

Thank you - I brought my LAPTOP back to my office – which is connected to BT Broadband. I use the ASDL modem to connect to the micro filter and DSL signal light is on. So the problem is down to PLUSNET

I have since notified them my findings - on Wednesday.

Plusnet has text me on my mobile, there is no number I could text a reply. The computer/modem has been plugged in since 14 Sep2006 - Thursday 9.00 p.m. at the time of writing, I am awaiting them to resolve the issue.

I note your reply at 3.40 p.m. on Saturday that the problem is now with your faults engineer. How soon will they look into my problem. What will be the response time expected from them.
Do they work on weekends?
