You need to give it a couple of weeks to bed in.

Reboot your router once a day and keep an eye of the sync rates, they will give an indication if the speed will increase at the end of your training period.

How do I monitor the sync rates?

You should be able to login to your modem/router somehow and get the figures from there. What modem/router do you have?

I'm not too familiar with that one but if you have a manual for it, it should tell you in there how to login.

Try this but I can't guarantee that it'll work:
Fire up your browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 and if you get a login box, type in admin for the username and admin for the password. If that gets you in you should be able to find the sync speed somewhere (maybe there's a Connection Tab somewhere). No doubt as soon as someone who has one of these modem/routers sees your question, they'll be able to give you a definitive answer. In the meantime, hope this helps.

See here for information on getting line stats from your router.

Try rebooting your kit Wink

Looks as if we were still waiting for our systems to update to take the upgrade into consideration. I've made some changes here and you should be able to get about 5.5Mbps following a powercycle of your kit.

I have retested and I'm upto this;

Does the full test still have to run (10 days) ? should I see it increase further?

Do I have to change any MTU or RWIN settings?

Thanks for your help in advance.

These are the results from BT;

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 5500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 4843 kbps

If you made some changes at Plusnet (previous post) which gave me 5.5Mbps can you switch me up to the full 8Mb?

BT have set the thoughput rate on your line to 5500kbps, your sync rate is 7616kbps which means that so long as it remains sync'd at this speed then the throughput rate will automatically increase to 6500kbps within the next 3-5 days.

Is 5500Kbps the fastest it will ever go?

Why can't BT set it at 8000Kbps?

If BT set your line speed too high it can cause problems, line dropping etc, so it usually goes up in steps. The closer you are to 8mb the more susceptible you can be to interference.

So, it's set at 5500Kbps now, does that mean it will gradually increase over time to 8000Kbps?
