Make/model of PlusNet supplied router ?

Hi Mike,

It's the Solwise SAR110, there's a really good review on ADSLGuide at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2003/q1/sar_110.asp

USB modem relies on the CPU of the computer to decode incoming traffic. USB takes a lot of CPU cycles.

Ethernet based routers are better for multiple reasons.

1: Dedicated device, no need to have system on for connection with other devices.

2: You don't need to proxy software for multiple computers. That is the job of the router.

3: Faster, as network cards are hardware based, and don't need so many CU cycles (though USB network cards are different).

4: instant connection. No need to wait for the drivers to make the DSL line syc. So long as the router is on, and there are no exchange problems, there is perminant sync.
