Mac osx10 + adsl

Does anyone know any reasons why these 2 wouldn't go together. BT have said that Mac Os10.2 and ADSL aren't compatible?? Even with the right drivers for the Green 'Frog'.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Or are Bt saying the truth for once.

They are either bullshitting you to try to get you to upgrade and buy a more expensive router or something. Or they just got it wrong.

It's not that these two wont go together. There was a problem with OS 10 and USB devices. OS 10.2 ahould not have these problems. (It's up to 10.2.2 now)

RE: Mac osx10 + adsl

There's nothing wrong with os x 10.2 or any other version of X for that matter when it comes to adsl. The problem lies with the ***** drivers that alcatel produce for the frog.

If you don't want to ditch the frog, have a look at the mac forum on www.adslguide.org.uk for details on getting the frog to sort of work with 10.2, otherwise buy yourself a modem/router combo. I had a secondhand frog, as I'm a bit of a cheapskate, but I've just bought the AMX-CA61E from dabs.com for just over £60 inc. and on those rare occaisions when I can connect to plusnet, everything runs much faster with the router. The drivers for the frog must have been really sucking up the cpu cycles under X.

Thanks for your help.

This is for a friend who went out and brought a computer, because it looked nice!! (yes my friend is a woman).
And she's got a frog but it didn't want to know. I'll read up and sort her out, so to speak.
