Lose ADSL when use telephone

When using the Binatone 512 USB Modem to connect to PlusNet, if someone uses the telephone to make a voice call, the ASDL connection terminates.
Any advice on correct use of microfilters etc to stop this.

Have cable from modem and telephone cable into microfilter and into telephone socket.
Would a dodgy microfilter cause this?

Yes, as could a line/wiring fault (both BT's and in any local extensions you may have added).

I seem to remember someone else having the same problem and they reported it to BT faults and they fixed it so if changing the filter does not work, report it to BT.

Lose ADSL when use telephone

Hi,
I had a similar problem suddenly appear after months of fault free operation and a rock solid connection, despite having a lot of equipment on the line.
All I had done was bought a new phone, plugged it in and was trying it out before disconnecting the old phone, when the problems started.
Once I got rid of the old phone the problems disappeared.
So I guess I'd probably exceeded the REN for the line because now I am back to fault free operation.

Regards
Ces

Yes a faulty filter could cause your disconnection problem, but it could be a line fault. I had this problem, but I also got noise on the line even when not connected.

Do you get a noticable noise on your line when not connected to ADSL?

Also like buz said, I suggest you get some new filters.

Thanks for these suggestions - I'll try new microfilters and check

Don't go for a cheapo device...

http://www.netshop.co.uk/html/z420ukai.htm is highly recommended and used by BT.
