Line attenuation Vs line rate.

I'm trying to find a definitive guide as to what level of line attenuation will support what line rates. So far I've been able to summise the following but if someone knows of a good reference point, let me know.

512 - effectively no limit > 60dB
1Mb - 60db < 41dB
2Mb - < 41dB

The 41dB should actualy reas 43dB.

That being said, attuation is not actualy the biggest factor in what a line can handle.

Only when used in combination with the SNR reading, can you guage what a line is capable of.

Thanks for that. So is there a reference somweher I can use to look up what is the expected line rate for a given attenuation and SNR?
