LCP down???? Router can't connect

Right, this is on behalf of my brother because his connection doesn't work.

His billing date was yesterday and he has been moved over to LLU. Since yesterday he has not been able to access the internet.

Have checked the login and password settings and they are correct, tried changing the username to @plus.net just incase but stil doesn't work.

Have tried removing all other equipment on the line, different splitters and it still isn't working.

Have upgraded the router firmware and tried power cycling it numerous times..........and it still isn't working.

He has a Netgear DG834G wireless router, this is the log that it throws out. I apologise but I'm don't know what it means or what to do next. Ignore the date and time because I think it gets these from the net.........which it can't connect to!!!! There is no WAN light and I don't think the router is syncing but I don't know much about ADSL so am at a bit of a loss!

LCP down???? Router can't connect

Join the club!

ADSL light is flashing away but no end of authentication problems PPP issues, LCP issues etc etc. I just got moved to IPStream Max and my line is attmepting to connect at 4mb which is unlikely at best considering I was working at 1mb before.

Now using dial-up to find out what is going on but its all quiet from PlusNet at the moment, last comment was £54 if I want BT to come and look at the line! Just put it back as it was!

Have a look here http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41676

I managed to get mine to work, after I done that.

your Noise Margin maybe borderline about 6-6.5, if so you can have probs.
With that tweak I greatly increased my margin.

LCP down???? Router can't connect

sassieandmark:

Your WAN light is the 3rd light along from the left! Its this that will start flashing when you lose sync from your exchange. Does this flash when you lose connection? Have you upgraded your netgear router to the lastest firmware, if you have then it would say in your logs "Loss of Syncronisation"

The light doesn't even come on, the status is shown as okb up and down

LCP down???? Router can't connect

That means it is not sync'ing.

The only way I got round that wsa the little wiring mod, I am now sync'ing at 3672 with a noise margin of 12....

before I could not sync, and prior to LLU I was on 1152 with a Noise Margin of 12 also.

So its made a huge difference for meSmiley

Hmmmmmm, used dial up to do the online fault checker and get the line tested. I left the router plugged in and now it has synced at 8157kbps up and 653kbps downHuh

Disconnected the dialup and it's still connected? Very odd!! Why is this?Huh
