Internal ADSL Modem Problems when shutting down

Been with Plus net for over a month now, good service etc
Still trying to conquer my major problem though, which plusnet cannot do anything about
I bought my own modem which i choose internal PCI to cut costs etc, this works fine. The problem comes when i turn off/shut down computer (under winXP), the modem doesnt respond after you restart it, so this results in me having to reinstall it everytime.
I found a part solution to this by Hibernating rather then shutting down, but this is extra hassel and doesnt shut applications down properly
Anyone know of real solutions, or anyone came across similar problems??
My modem is a conexant internal PCI ADSL Modem, can't find a model numb or anything but i believe its the only one they do
Thanks

RE: Internal ADSL Modem Problems when shutting down

Sounds a very strange fault Craig and not one that I have personally come across before. Would it be possible to try the PCI Card in another machine and therefore eliminate and O/S problems?

Another suggestion I would make is to ensure the drivers are xp compatible and the latest available.

Perhaps someone else has experienced this and may be able to offer further advice?

Apologies we cannot help you any further at this stage.

Regards,
Mark.

RE: Internal ADSL Modem Problems when shutting down

I have exactly the same problem. I have the same modem and operating system. I have scoured the net for alternative drivers - all to no avail. My only solution is to format my drive and try installing the card from fresh as opposed to installing as a new piece of hardware. I will be doing this at the weekend so I will let you know how I got on.

Please let me know if you find a solution.

Cheers

Hi There,

I took delivery of my starter pack last night and within an hour or two had it all up and running - despite being advised of the wrong username!!

Like yourselves I have a PCI ADSL modem running under Windows XP Pro. I also am having the problem of having to reinstall each time I've turned my PC off - not a disaster but an annoyance none-the-less.

I've just spoken to Customer Support and they've given me the following URL where it's possible to download an updated driver for the modem.

http://themad-house.co.uk

I haven't tried it yet, as I'm at work at the moment but shall give it a go when I get home and let you know how I get on.

Other than that - can't complain really it's blisteringly quick and despite all the grumblers that seem to frequent this forum I'd have no hesitation in recomending PlusNet.

Regards

Paul.

RE: Internal ADSL Modem Problems when shutting down

Update:-

Well I got home last night and installed the drivers recommended by support (2.099.040.000 WAN) and they didn't work. However, there was a note on the site (http://themad-house.co.uk) that some users were getting more joy with a different version (ADSLXP 4.1.2.085.010 (0410) WAN) - Where do they get these version numbers . So I downloaded them and hey presto - it works.

I now connect pretty much first time, every time after a restart and the longest it's taken to connect is about a minute. I know I could be speaking too soon - but it certainly seems to have worked at the moment!

Hope you get sorted

Paul.
