Instand Speed Changes

"The changes enable the ISP to determine its customers' actual speed setting, instead of this being set at BT's local exchange."

I read the above on an article about PlusNet's exclusive trials, does this mean plusnet will be able to change our speeds over instantly once BT give them this power?

The trails are not exclusive and the answer to your question is yes. In fact you will be able to select the maximum speed your line supports or any of the lower speeds available via the portal.

If the trials are not exclusive, how come in two weeks since BT announced it, only plusnet are doing it?

Not all ISPs do trials, many wait for the trials to end before offering products related to the new features. Some may do trials but don't tell their customers or the outside world. Nothing actually starts until April so other ISPs may be waiting until nearer the time or for when their internal network has been upgraded to cope with the faster speeds before they announce anything.

Only the ISPs themselves can say why they are not doing this trial, but it is available to other ISP to sign up for the trials if they want.

I think this is very good of plus net to offer trails to us. Well done plus.net
