I'm still confused

I've read through a fair few posts interpreting what you line can/can't do and tbh I still don't really understand it. Apologies for creating a new post but could someone tell me what the following means?

SNR Margin (dB): 22.8 26.0
Attenuation (dB): 41.0 30.0
Output Power (dBm): 12.2 17.6
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4576 1076
Rate (Kbps): 1152 288
K (number of bytes in DMT frame): 37 10
R (number of check bytes in RS code word): 0 0
S (RS code word size in DMT frame): 1 1
D (interleaver depth): 1 1

The first number in every category is downstream, and the second it upstream.

This what pulled from the stats page of my US Robotics ADSL Router.

I'm currently on Blunsdon exchange in Swindon and am awaiting upgrade to the 2MB package - Does that happen automatically? What speed can I theoretically get?

Thanks in advance for any help given Smiley

These are the values that are needed - brake down as follows:

Quote
Attenuation (dB): 41.0 30.0

need less than 43 to get 512 and 1Meg and 2meg (first value downsream) -Note if this is between 43 and 60 only 512 and 1 meg service only.

SNR Margin (dB): 22.8 26.0

Need better (higher) than 10 for a stable connection (rule of thumb) so 22 is excellent. Mine is 32.
Note this value will drop as you increase the speed. Normally but 3db per speed increase.

So from yuor stats you should be able to get 2Meg fine.

The other interesting bit is:
Quote
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4576 1076

This is you router etc thinks that your max speed on your line will be - 4.5Meg down and 1Meg up. BUT only BT will decide whats lines will support. And only 2Meg services are avaiable at the moment.

But just between you and me Smiley - quess that this sounds about right - you may be able to get a 4meg service. Smiley shhh Smiley
