How the Hell do I get any REAL help in getting Broadband?

I ordered a broadband Plusnet connection in mid August and received notification that set up would take 5 - 7 days. Nothing so far and my order tracker says "Your account details are being checked". PLEASE!!!!!! How long does it take to check an account?
I've tried phoning and I've tried to find a way to query what's happening via the website. I'm not stupid so God help anyone of limited intelligence.
How do I find out what's going on? Better still how do I get to "talk" to someone - via the phone or EMail
I'm seriously thinking of cancelling my order
CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE?!?

If I where you I'd make the break now and cancel your account and find yourself an ISP that can provide both a reliable connection and good customer service, neither of which you will find here.

Did you pay your first month via Credit/Debit card?
If so, it should have been completed by now, and PN need to pull their fingers out and find out whats happening.
If you asked for the first payment to be taken via DD, there is quite a long delay whilst PN get in touch with the bacnk to set up and confirm the DD.
Either way they ought to make sure you know whats happening.
