HELP: PC too far from main BT point

My PC needs to be 8-9 meteres from my main BT point. Does anyone have any successful ideas on how I can keep broadband speed and have some sort of extension/new telephone point?

HELP: PC too far from main BT point

1. Buy a 10 or 15m extension cable. PLug the extension into to the BT socket and add an ADSL filter/splitter to the end. You can then plug in a phone and the ADSL modem.

2. Buy an extension kit and fit it yourself. Most come with a socket doubler to fit into the existing BT socket, some cable and an extension socket. Very easy to fit.

Would this be just as good as a BT extension/new socket, and would I lose any of the Broadband speed?

yes to the first Q, and no to the second.

An extension cable will have little effect on the signal/noise levels considering you are probably upto 5KM from the exchange.

I have run 40ft extentions with no noticable drop in speed. Just make sure it doesnt go close to any power cables as this coul dhave an effect.
