HELP! Installation problem with the CD setup files

Cry I have tried several times to load the files from the CD to enable Binatone ADSL 500 USB Modem Dial up to be loaded on my PC (running XP).
I have even rung the helpline who told me to wait for several minutes as it apparently will run in the background. It isn't working, I'm sure the CD is faulty as the files won't load. It then tries to connect to the internet to look for the software, but I've removed the internal modem. Is the CD faulty? What am I doing wrong? I've been over this so many times, I don't believe I missed anything or have carried the procedure out incorrectly. I've even been on Binatone's website to download the files, which aren't available for ADSL500.

HELP! Installation problem with the CD setup files

Go to Control panel 'Add or remove programs' and check that
there is no Binatone software on your system if any, remove.
Go to Control panel ,System,Hardware,Device Manager Look for
Binatone Modem and remove, look also under Network adaptor
and Remove the Binatone if on your system ,then Re-boot (with
the modem disconnected).
Then plug your modem into the USB port and Found new hardware
should ask for the installation drivers. If it asks for an
installation cd put this into the drive or alternatively use the browse
feature and direct the installer to your cd drive.
If your saying that your cd won't auto run when installed, then
another method is to place the cd into the drive, go to 'My computer'
right click the cd drive Icon, click on the 'explore' button and this
will bring up all the files on the cd if it's not faulty. Then click on the
Setup.exe Icon and it should start the installation.

By the way I've just checked and you can download a fresh set of drivers from Plusnet.
