I used to get really bad and highly variable bandwidth readings, when i used XPpro with plusnet usb modem, Since going back to 98se 2 weeks ago it has been very constant 60 KB/sec download..

I think due to conexant XP driver of plusnet supplied dynamode usb modem.

I have since fitted a dlink pci modem to try with XPpro and this so far has had constant 60 KB/sec download over last three days( in that time the dynamode modem was all over the place.

i did mention the xp driver, out of interest the driver is quite old originally written for windows 2000 and has not been revised for XP.
