Have PN any plans to include a spam filter with their email? They have been falsely advertising one with their broadband packages since I joined a couple of years ago. This is not a spam filter as it does not filter anything! It just marks the emails and the rubbish ends up in your inbox anyway!!

It was very, very fortunate that the spam checking only marks the emails not dump them a few weeks back when nearly everything was being marked as spam :!:

They cant really do anymore than they do as one mans spam is another email. If they deleted it there would be loads of legal implications could people who get here emails deleted sue?

They don't need to delete it, just put it in a junk mail folder like all the other ISPs do. That way you can check if you think you are not getting mail you should be.

The new mail system being designed will address this problem and give you the option to delete mail marked as spam of allow it through (still marked).

Spam and email

I seem to be getting a large number of emails which avoid the spam filter (i.e. they are not correctly marked with the [SPAM] prefix). Just these last two weeks or so the proportion of misses seems to have soared - is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Does anyone else forward their spam to 'thisisspam@whatever.plus.com'?

spam@despamchecker.plus.com is indeed the correct address.

As elvin has pointed out - we do have some plans to actually offer the ability to filter the E-Mails out, but we need to be 99.9% confident that the Spam detection is 99.9% accurate - and more importantly - you need that confidence too!

OK, so now I know the correct address, but why am I still getting obvious spam with trigger words in the title (e.g. viagra) which even the most rudimentary filter would be expected to catch?

EDIT
so I did the obvious thing and checked the Spam protection settings - somehow they had been reset i.e. neither the on nor off state was selected; Having turned it back on, I guess this will cure the problem, but how did my settings get changed in the first place?

Very strange, I can't see any obvious problems with your account or it being switched off at all, will keep a look out to see if I can see anyone else affected.

Spam filter is on, but 12 of the 14 emails today were missed spam. Looks like I'm going to have to set up a whitelist or something ...

 Is it the increasing number of spam e mails which are text but are sent as a a jpg image to defeat spam text checkers.

Well, if the spam filter misses emails with the words 'Viagra'and 'cialis' in the message topic without any obfuscation applied, then it isn't very effective in my opinion...
even if the body of the email is an image file
