Downbtime on evenings (port 21 ftp)

Why is ftp seemingly locked out after 6pm?

Its extremely annoying that i cannot connect to anything on port 21 (ftp) in the evening.

Please let me know if this can be fixed

There are no time restrictions on ftp access to either www or ccgi.

Could it possibly be a local firewall configuration problem. Does your firewall have time configurable settings for access on certain protocols?

Could your router be blocking certain ports at certain times. Check the firewall rules and logs.

firewall and router are fine and set to allow access at all times.

It can never resolve the IP for some reason but web can

Still sounds like a local problem.

What happens when you disable your software firewall? Note: some firewalls have to actually be uninstalled before they stop 'interfering'.

Also when it starts happening try rebooting your router and see if it syll happens.

May also be worth resetting router to default settings and setting it up again just in case there is a config corruption. Hopefully you don't have too many firewall rules setup.

Also try manually setting the PN DNS servers IP address in your windows network settings (under TCP/IP settings) rather than using your router for DNS.

Wonder if they've used up most of their peak allowance and general FTP is being throttled?

If that were so...

1) There would be something on VMBU stating management had been applied
2) it would start from 4pm not 6pm

While possible, I suspect this is not the cause of this problem.
