Dlink DSL 504

Anyone had problems with this router dropping connection completely for short periods? Wasn't much of a problem until I started using Skype.

No - sorry. I use a DSL504T (among others) and it seems to be fairly bomb-proof.
By 'dropping out', do you mean dropping ADSL synch or dropping the IP connection?

Somewhere in the innards of the 504 is a setting for "Idle Timeout" (cant remember just where as its long time since Ive used that model.) However make sure that its set to zero then it will never disconnect if your not using the internet.

Idle timeout, Keeep Alive and Max Fail are all on the main Setup page.

Ok. It was dropping ADSL Sync. All the timeout settings were ok. The sitecom router I had before never dropped and the brand new Netgear DG834 I just bought today is working perfectly. I am guessing that the Dlink was faulty. I bought it second hand of Ebay and it was already a few years old. Thanks, Sean.
