You probably didn't have ADSL in October when every ISP had speed problems. All were down to the MTU setting for the BT network.

BT recommended a MTU of 1458 to avoid packet fragmentation through its network. What you will find with a setting of 1500 is its slightly faster when the network is lightly loaded, but when there is high traffic your speed falls dramatically.

This is also identified on the speedguide site at this link:

May have a play at increasing the RWIN to see how it goes, as mine set at 17016

RE: DSL tweaks

A lot of programs will not let you set the MTU to 1458,the nearest is 1500.
MTU of 1500 on mine is ok,at peak times I get the same as off peak.
The RWIN setting that I use works ok.

may try it but a question i have is, ive always had between 55/60 speed for dl's and the only thing ive changed is the mtu to what it is now 1458.

so iam asking would this make a significant change to my speeds,or basically what were ur average speeds before you got this proggy.

only problems i get is i get a few disconnections, by that i mean the adsl runner just kicks me off completly ( connaxant usb adsl modem), can be very annoying at times, and nothing ive ever done has stopped it either (and ive tried loads)
