DNS Servers that work

Hi

I had been having trouble all Saturday and eventually couldn't get on to PlusNet,
well no further than the portal.

I waited.. and waited... and still am waiting.

A user here Mr TAC gave me alternative BT servers
and hey presto PlusNet will work.

We don't know if it's allowed, but i reckon we are paying for an always on connection.

So change your PlusNet DNS servers from:
212.159.11.150
212.159.13.150

To BT DNS Servers:
213.120.62.100
213.120.62.101

Logoff.. then log back on.
and your ADSL will work.

PlusNet are taking too long to fix.

Thanks again to MR TAC Smiley
I'm off to bed.

RE: DNS Servers that work

I know 2 other people and they can browse the net with no problem but i cannot and see other people are having the same problem, i've used the BT DNS settings, and i'm up and working this is very odd.
Why are some people able to browse but some can't.

RE: DNS Servers that work

Roy because if your dialup or router is set to PlusNet DNS as it will be.. you are only seeing things locally on this network, such as the portal.

B/c PlusNet had a major problem all yesterday, i did tell them, but nobody seemed to respond, then later at 11pm ish the DNS split. and everyone lost all web pages and client connections outside PlusNet's network.

I noticed my forum which runs on my own home server, via Abyss server and Active perl 5.6 failed to run aswell, as i had it set to http://dolan.plus.com and it couldn't find my host name. So i redone the forum to act on my IP number instead, last night was bad Sad (http://212.159.68.178/index.shtml)
I had been having errors with uploading most of saturday b4 all this happened.

Anyway if you have dialup, you change the DNS servers by going to control panel, dialup networking or network connections on your computer, find the dialup that you use, then left click on it, and highlight properties.
In this box look for 'Networking Tab'
then click 'Properties' you should see your DNS settings there.

Change the server numbers, click ok and apply.
then disconnect and reconnect to make the changes.

But I have just read on the portal that PlusNet have solved the problem now.
so maybe best to switch back to the PlusNet Servers again now.

Here are the servers again, keep them handy,
incase this ever happens again.

PlusNet DNS Servers:

212.159.11.150
212.159.13.150

BT DNS Servers:

213.120.62.100
213.120.62.101

And the real thanks for all this should go to MR TAC, who gace me the BT servers to use while PlusNet were fixing this! Smiley
