DG834G and no sync.

My DG834G router has been working without issue since July.

Tonight however the LED for line sync went out and I have been unable to get it back.
I have no connection with it and the line stats are all showing zero.
I have tried a router reset and also the firmware upgrade again (1.05).

It is not even attempting to sync with the exchange (led not flashing).

Anyone any ideas? I think it is faulty to be honest.

Thanks

DG834G and no sync.

Sounds very much like its died.
Do you have access to one from a friend that you could try just to prove the line is ok?

DG834G and no sync.

Are you connected via an extension socket or directlly into the master socket. If extension, try the master and also make sure all other phones, faxes, 56k modems & sky boxes and disconnected.

Also try a different filter/splitter in case that has failed.

Does an ordinary phone still work in the wallsocket that the ADSL modem is plugged into?

I'm connected to the master socket and have also looked at the filter side of it. The normal phone is fine too.

The line is fine, I replaced the router with a USB ADSL modem and it works just fine.

Looks like it is time to contact Netgear.

EDIT.

Update and for those that might encounter the same.

I spoke to Netgear support who got me to go through an extended hardware reset of the router. This sorted it.

Cheers.

DG834G and no sync.

Is the extended reset holding in the reset button at the back for 10s or more after powering up?

No, well sort of.

I had tried that and had no luck.

1. with router on, hold reset for 15sec
2. with reset in power down the unit.
3. hold reset in for a further 15sec.
4. power up router and press reset for a further 15sec and release.
5. reboot the router.

strange but it worked!
