Connection death after 30 minutes

Tonight, I've connected up my new router (Safecom 4-port) and the connection works perfectly for a while but then now and again it simply disconnects, and remains disconnected until I reboot. The sync has been fine but there is simply no data going anywhere.

I know that my exchange is in a bit of trouble (my postcode is B90 2QL) and I was wondering if this could be causing it. My microfilters aren't great quality either, but I don't know if this is the cause of the problems.

It could be the filters, but if the only setup you've changed is the router, then it maybe something related to the way it's setup.

Does it have an idle time setting? some routers do and it needs to be set to 0.

When the connection goes, I can't even access the default gateway.

I would search google for the router, see if there is a firmware upgrade that you can do? or see if the company has a site with information about this issue.

Finally if all else fails, I guess to take it back and get a replacement.

I have the router connected via USB, just out of interest. Can someone help?

That could be the reason why then, some motherboards cannot support the current drain created by modems etc.

Have you tried using a powered usb hub? that might solve your problem.

There is an adaptor to the unit as well though. It only seems to disconnect when I'm not using it, because for the past hour I've been gaming online and it hasn't dropped.

yep, it sounds like a usb power problem. I guess you already know the answer now, your going to have to stay using the adapator.

What I meant was that I am already using the adaptor. You have to use it.

What do you actually mean, since I'm a little confused now. As for the thread, I think it's unlikely.
