Connection - Or lack of it!

Ok, I'll join the moaning masses.
My line was activated 5 days ago and I still can't connect.
My last ticket hasn't been replied to in 8hrs (and still counting!)
Is anyone using a US Robotics 8500 USB ASDL modem and Windows ME?
Can anyone email me comprehensive details of all the connection settings.
When I connect I get error 691 and a "password" failure.
If you can help please email me - weststander@hotmail.com
Looks like after this weekend I'll be getting my money back...

Thanks in advance.

RE: Connection - Or lack of it!

Hi

I have a D-LINK DSL-200 digital modem, but the set-up is much the same.

There is a help setup ADSL page if uou click on the customer support section.

When you enter you're user and pass on the 'fake' dialup box remember its "yourname@plus.net" a bit different from dialup user name.

the settings are 0 and 38.

Set the fake dialup number as 0,38 should work.

If not check the help section.

ADSL is messed up at moment, even i get error couldn't connect to network, takes me about 3 or 4 attempts, while other times i logon straight away, but the Upstream is terrible right now, i'm only getting 2-6 Kbs max.... downstream is alot better, but still very slow for an ADSL connection.

RE: Connection - Or lack of it!

Thanks for your advice Jason,
Unfortunately my settings are as you said.

The "strange thing is I can connect to the bt_test@startup_domain connection but not my david1969@plus.net connection...sigh...

I have now had my problem "referred to BT" - it seems from reading these forums that the "It's not our fault it's BT's" seems a common "excuse"

Anybody else have any help...I'm getting desperate...

Consider yourself lucky David... I can't connect to anything.
