Connection Delay

Sorry if this is a stupid question :? but whenever I turn my PC on my 3Com router takes a while to connect to the Internet and email access and then it's fine. I thought it was supposed to be "always on".
I never used to have this problem?
Thanks, Paul

Connection Delay

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forums.

If you are using a router and continually leave it switched on, then you will have an always on connection.

In the router config ensure that the auto connect feature is set to always on and that any idle timeout feature is switched off.

If all of the above are enabled and configured are you sure the probelm isnt happening between your PC and router on boot? Is there perhaps a config issue or software / hardware which is delaying the network initialisation? Or perhaps your software firewall taking a bit of time to fully load and configure itself?

How long is "a while"?

Hi Mark
Thanks for the rapid reply, just checked my router config, it had a setting "triggered by trafic", changed it to "always on".
