Conexant router problem - I beg you to help

Hi guys. I have a conexant 1port router and I have a really hard time setting it up. I tried an online howto but it didnt help.
My settings:

Default gateway : 0.0.0.0
Enabled? : Yes
VPI : 0
VCI : 38
static ip address : the one provided from plus.net
subnet mask : 255.255.255.255
Encapsulation : PPPoA VC-MUX
PPP service name : (empty)
username : my username
password : my password

DHCP client disabled

Nat disabled (have tried with enabled too)

The ppp status says not connected and when I try to press connect it doesnt.
Also, in the diagnostic test, apart from the testng adsl synchronisation, testan connection and test ethernet connect to ADSL (which pass), everything else fails. Please help because I really have to get thing working. [/img]

Well your username should be either :
username@plusdsl.net or username@plus.net
In your PC's LAN settings did you assign
your pc with an IP address in the range of router
eg 10.0.0.3 ( I'm assuming router is 10.0.0.2 )
set the default gateway as address of router 10.0.0.2
use the same subnet mask as router .
Set Plusnets DNS servers as 212.159.13.49 & 212.159.13.50.

Have you seen this
set up guide from someone using Plusnet.
The subnet on the routers WAN setting is 255.255.255.255
and 255.0.0.0 on the routers LAN if this is how you
set your's then set your pc's subnet to the same as routers
LAN 255.0.0.0
Also states router doesn't work with crossover cable.

i used this as a howto. although i am using a crossover cable to connect it with my pc (straight-through doesnt work) i have to tell you that the router doesnt receive anything from the ATM and it also doesnt get an ip from the dhcp server (i have a static ip but i just thought that this might be easier. a static ip didnt work anyway)

According to a the ADSLguide review here
the crossover is correct cable to connect direct to PC,
there are also some snapshots from farina, but it sounds like
you've set it up correctly. The unit may be faulty, I don't know
if there is any updated firmware you could try.
Origo/ASR uses the same chipset maybe the ADSLtech forum is
another place you could look for tips.

Any Autentication protocol required Huh It should be CHAP. My old Conexant chipset modem required this.
You will not get an IP address or PPP layer connection until you are authenticated.
Have you tried the BT test connection instead of plusnet ?? the connection would be bt_test@startup_domain with no password. Other bits (VCI,VPI,PPP etc) are the same as Plusnet

Per VC enabled set to YES and static IP entered Huh

Otherwise, defaults should work.

Do you have any SNR and attenuation figures showing Huh If not, it indicates you do not have sync with the exchange.
What are the figures if available ?? These may indicate a problem.
Could you not get a connection to the BT test connection (it will do nothing else bar allow a connection !!!, no surfing)
