Change of Realm

Long term PN customer slowing getting PN'd off, now what would be involved in changing Realm ie from @plus.net or @plus.co.uk for the other unlucky sods on ptn-ag1 like my self that are having a bad time that PN won't admit or make good on and kill said pipe.

The realm you are on makes no difference because all realms can connect to all BT centrals. You can check this by disconnecting & reconnecting your router and visiting www.usertools.plus.net/@gateway to show what gateway you are connected to. This should change if you connect / disconnect a few times.

nope we cant those of us with @plus.net/.co.uk realms are stuck on the old metronet 155 pipe, whkch we cannot be Load balanced off from or force a new connection to another pipe, 155 and 622 don't mix.

I thought the 155 was only supposed to be used as a backup in case one of the other pipes went down. If they are also using their backup links then what provisions are left if a major BT central problem occurs. PN must be seriously short of central capacity if that is the case!!!

Ok, just read Daves post on this. So PN had to keep a metronet 155 pipe so they locked a load of customers on it and it is now overloaded. Really makes you wonder if PN have any clues what they are doing.

The reason for putting plus.net and plusnet.co.uk on to the single 155Mbps is because an analysis of the traffic of these customers shows that they will fit entirely on the 155Mbps pipe with plenty of capacity to spare. None of the other realms would do this as each would more than fill a 155Mbps pipe.

Maybe we don't but the pipe can't handle it and they won't admit it

This is why I have been posting so much on these forums recently Peter.

I have put it to Dave T on numerous occasions recently that those of us locked into the ptn-ag1 gateway and Metronet 155 pipe are disadvanatged in comparison to other customers on the main Plusnet platform but he refuses to agree and continually claims that we are receiving the same level of service as everyone else.

It is time we had some openness and honesty from this company.
