Cannot Connect To This One web Site

www.middlesexccc.com

I cannot connect using my broadband connection to the above site. This is the only site that I know of that I am having problems with and I do quite a bit of trouble free surfing.

I can connect to it using the PlusNet dial up connection.

I can connect to it using Megaproxy and my boradband connection.

I can ping it successfully using my broadband connection.

I have lowered my MTUs.

I have downloaded the latest firmware for my BT Voyager 2100 wireless router, and reset it.

I cannot connect using my laptop either, so to me this takes out any issue with my IE 6.0 settings.

I cannot connect using Mozilla Firefox.

I have turned off my security softeware and this makes no difference.

I am operating using Windows XP Pro.

IF any Plusnet Techies want to see the call history it's Ticket: 18475939

Anything I can try to resolce this will be gratefully recieved.

Probably doesn't help you much but I can connect to it with no problem :?

Now Router Problem

I have now narrowed the problem down to my router (BT Voyager 2100).

I took my laptop out into the street, found a neighbour who did not secure their wireless connection, and managed to connect via this. Using this I was able to connect to the web site.

I have shot off an Email to the technical support at BT Voyager, but can anyone here think of any reason why my router should stop me connecting with this site?

its not necesarily your router, your connecting (illegally i might add!) to someone else internet, who are probably with another ISP it could be something to do with your DNS settings or something else

Sorry - but as i said when Plusnet asked me to post my problem here, I am probably not going to understand the answer, or more accurately how it helps me.

What would you suggest I do to try to resolve my problem?

If I can connect using my PC one dial up connection, but not on my broadband, but I can connect on someone else's...... I suppose they could be using a dial-up!

I need help, any would be appreciated.

(I only connected to someone else's network temporaily because it was suggested I try another router and i do not have one - I thought I was being resourceful!)

Try the following command in command prompt: IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

Also when youre connected via dialup do the following in command prompt:
NSLOOKUP www.middlesexccc.com

make a note of the IP address and then do it again when youre on broadband. Both the address should be the same, if not then theres something screwy with your DNS lookup

good idea I never thought of a FlushDNS and I use it a lot as well! (great for when MSN won't connect!)

hmm this is odd I am running out of ideas! your using the same DNS that I am using so its not a DNS issue

Do you have another broadband modem or can you borrow one to test your theory that its your modem

Also is it the usual page cannot be displayed message or is it just blank?

I get the usual timed out page on my laptop.

On my desktop It takes me to an MSN cannot find page.

Did my test in the street of last night not show it was my router?

Try .co.uk, instead of .com? The .com failed to route at first here, but once the co.uk had come through, the .com worked too. Why no, I know nothing about DNS, but I do know that this worked for me. First try with .com gave an error message.

thats quite interesting using the .co.uk as it just redirects to the .com anyway, very strange!

I caanot see what is off about an enitity purchasing both the .com and .co.uk doamin names and setting the .co.uk as a domain alias...isn't that the purpose of alias'.

I have tried numerious times both the www.middlesexccc.com and www.middlesexccc.co.uk and can never connect to anything.
