No sync this morning

Yeah, I had no connection between approx 7:40 and 10am this morning - it's not long come back. I have been having - no sync - connection issues the last week (having only regained connection yesterday), so was naturally thinking it was my connection again. But it looks like it was a much more global issue on this occassion?! :| *sigh*

In actual fact I've been having problems almost on a daily basis for the past 10 days or so and I'm not at all happy.

Broadband down?

We definitely cannot blame Plus Net on this occasion. What I want to know after reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telehouse_Docklands
is how in Gods name does such a facitity suffer a power failure?! Surely they have generators, batteries and a million other safeguards against power failures!

Only human

Despite extensive provision of resilient power feeds and generators, the site was still susceptible to human error.

Broadband down?

I thought the reason for back up servers and connection items like radius servers etc. was to help in such a situation.

Exactly what backup systems do PN have and what can be quickly switched on in the event of an outage somewhere else. Do all conections via PN go via plusnet or do PN have a second location for connection to the main uk backbone?

Does co-location of hardware and systems not mean that these problems should not affect so many people.

What is co-located, webspace, e-mail :-)...

Whilst I appreciate that a backup system able to handle every PN,F9 etc. user via an alternative connection route would not be viable just what provisions do PN have. Multiple radius servers of just the two mentioned at Teelehouse North.

From the multiple, identical, emails I recieved today they all said that the following were affected.

Broadband connectivity
Webmail
CGI
MYSQL
Email
Customer Support availability
0808 & 0845 dialup numbers

Isn't this a lot to be affected by one power outage?

Customer support slipped in there by mistake I think, that is always affected!
