Broadband Premier Account...Up to 2mb?

Hi Everyone Cheesy

Apologies if this has already been asked, but for the premier account (i.e. £21.99 per month) - do you still pay the full amount even though your telephone line can only support say 1mb??

Also do Pnet let you know what your maximum speed is once you have been connected for the first time??

Thanks,
Baz

Yes you pay the same, even if you can only do 512k.

If you're a new (to ADSL) customer, BT will set you off at 2Mb, or the most your line can take.

Your router will tell you what your line is syncing at (or Plusnet will if you ask), - i.e.512k, 1Mb or 2Mb, and a speed test will give you an idea how fast it is running.

Thanks Geoff,

Would be nice if they tell you that before you sign up - £21.99 a bit much for just a 512kp connection!

Cheers Wink

What makes you think you can't get 2Mb?
Most people will be able to get at least 1Mb, even with poor lines.
Put your phone number into here and it will give you an indication of what officially you should get.

But even then, it may be over cautious as for my phone number, it says I definitely can't get 2Mb and I've been running 2Mb no problem for over a month now.
