Need some help here Guys/Gals:

Since I had a telephone extension installed from the main BT line in wall socket I now need to unplug my 2 phones from the wall sockets before I can get the ADSL light on my Linksys WAG 54 Modem Router. I have filters on all wall sockets so I,m now stumped. Any suggestions please.

Are you using a filter on the new extension? Maybe a wire come loose in socket when extension was fitted.Try some new and better filters.

Failing that is it possible to plug directly into your master socket? I always find that this gives the most stable connection.

Who installed the extension?
It sounds like something is miswired if the problem has started up since then.

You may want to check the wiring was done properly. See UK Telephone Wiring which explains how it should look (assuming the standard BT phone cable was used) and what wires are connect to what.

If you don't fancy actually doing the wiring changes, taking off the socket covers poses no harm just so you can confirm what has actually been wired.
