Best modem/router/firewall combo?

Hi,

Im looking around at the various combo`s availible and was wondering.
Does anyone here use either the Netgear DG632 or Netgear DG834?

If so, are they any good?
Especially from the gaming point of view (xbox and pc) and ease of use/set-up?

If anyone could reccomend anything better would also be welcome.

Thanks all. Smiley

DG834, is good and easy to setup too. I'm afraid I don't know anything about the other netgear product.

I have a DG834 and I use mine with my PS2 with real setup issues, I had to setup a few port foward rules for games but nothing more.

I have the Netgear DG834G.

It does require some port forwarding but I do online gaming quite a bit and have my mates xbox connected up at times. It's pretty straight forward to do.

I managed it no problem.

Nice to hear good things about the Netgear DG834, I got one on its way to me tomorrow, decided to get one cause using ICS is annoying cause I have to leave my PC on whenever my family want to use the net downstairs.

I can also thoroughly recommend the DG834G. This is the wireless variant and I have a wireless bridge connected up to the XBOX and PS2 consoles downstairs.

Never had any problems with any Netgear stuff, and it's normally pretty easy to install.

port forwarding has nothing to do with your wireless connection problems.

Port forwarding is to allow some programs to establish connections on ports which are normally blocked by your routers firewall.

If you want help with your wireless problems I suggest you start a new thread detailing what problems you are having rather than highjacking this one.

Ok, the DG834 kicks serious ass Smiley

Took like 5 mins to set up, and it works great, no troubles so far, nice speeds too:

Just purchased the Linksys AG041. Line was activated today. Cheesy

Got to install the extension before we can use it though. Sad
