Bandwidth Speed Test

Am I the only one who can't get the speed checker to work? For the last week or so it's been reporting zero speed or not working at all.

Bandwidth Speed Test

It works for a lot of people, but has been reported in earlier threads and seems to be a known problem - something to do with the popup if I recall.

This works if you have Norton Personal firewall on your machine, disable it when running thespeedchecker. Because it directs you to an insecure page/pop up the firewall does its thing and blocks the download.

Bandwidth Speed Test

Thanks for the replies. I do have Norton Personal Firewall but it's always been there and the problems only started a few weeks ago. I've tried turning the firewall off but it made no difference. I've also tried using the ADSL Guide Broadband Speed Test and this works fine.

Any other ideas?

Check to see if you are routed to https or http when using the speedtester at plusnet...

I have found that the https address often gives a 0 byte file 1st attempt and is OK on retest..whereaas http**** always returns a valid download file and some sort of speed result.

Hope this helps.

It was the same for me Norton firewall was always on my machine, plusnet have made some changes and now the pop up window directs you to the insecure page. If you manually put in https then run the test it should work. For me as soon as I disable the firewall the speedtest also works. Josh Berry from plusnet is aware and they are looking at a way around the problem
